Where Delaware companies actually operate
Delaware incorporates more companies than any other state, and it is one of the five states whose business register cannot be obtained in bulk — so nobody, including us, can publish a list of Delaware's own filings. This page is the other side of that fact. A company incorporated in Delaware that trades anywhere else has to register as a foreign entity in that state and name a registered agent there, on a public file. Counting those filings across the ten state registers we hold produces a picture of Delaware's corporate population that is assembled entirely from other states' records.

793,084 entities on file across 7 state registers record Delaware as the state they were formed under. 578,743 of them name a registered agent. The gap between those two numbers is not missing data — it is the registers themselves: New York publishes an agent on a fifth of its rows and Connecticut publishes none at all.

Counted from each register's own file at its latest snapshot. A company registered in several states appears once per register, so the total is filings, not distinct companies.
Who represents them, in the registers we hold
Read this carefully, because the obvious reading of it is wrong. These are the agents named on a Delaware company's filings in other states — a Delaware-incorporated company that qualified in California names its California agent, and that is the name counted here. It is not that company's Delaware registered agent. We hold no Delaware register, so we do not know who that is, and no figure on this page should be read as saying we do.

Only organization-named agents on file for 200 or more entities in a register are listed; person-named agents are never listed, regardless of volume. Counts are floors: the registers file the same firm under varying punctuation and spelling, and different filed names are never merged — so one brand can appear here as several rows and each row understates it.
Delaware-incorporated SEC filers
A separate dataset, and deliberately not joined to the tables above. These come from SEC EDGAR, where a company states its own state of incorporation; the registers above come from the states. Nothing here identifies which of these filers appears in which register, because the only way to attempt that would be to match on company name, and a name match is a guess.

Why Delaware itself is missing
The Delaware Division of Corporations does not publish its register in bulk on terms that permit republication, which is why there is no /business-search/delaware register table on this site and why no page here lists Delaware filings. Every figure above is drawn from a different state's public file. That is a real limit and it is the reason this page is shaped the way it is: it can tell you where Delaware companies operate and who acts for them there, and it cannot tell you anything about the Delaware filing itself.
